Main responsibilities: 

  • Researching and developing content related to active and collaborative learning.
  • Supporting and advising academic staff in relation to active and collaborative learning.
  • Running workshops and giving guest presentation.
  • Running team building/maintenance sessions for students.
  • Supporting and advising academic staff with SPARKPLUS.
  • Co-organising the annual UTS Teaching and Learning Forum.


Key achievements:

  • Designed and ran over 50 workshops and training sessions for over 1900 academics with outstanding results and impact.
  • Designed and ran over 50 interactive learning sessions for over 5000 students.
  • Engaged over 300 academic staff and senior management through invited presentations (e.g., Teaching and Learning Committees, faculty retreats).
  • Inspired over 100 academics to use IFAT ‘scratch cards’, many of whom have now imbedded the technique into their practice (resulting in enhanced learning      experiences to thousands of students).
  • Supported and professionally developed over 100 academics with many going on to win awards and/or disseminate their work.
  • Supported over 100 academics with their use of SPARKPlus, many of whom have adopted my innovative SPARK designs.
  • Presented full peer-review paper at HERDSA, which was cited in the Higher Education section of the Australian newspaper.

From 2012-2014, I was a tutor/workshop leader in the subject Integrating Business Perspectives (IBP) at UTS. IBP was a first-year subject in the UTS Bachelor of Business. I tutored in the following semesters: Autumn 2012, Spring 2012, Autumn 2013, Autumn 2014.

  • Overall satisfaction with teaching very high (M = 4.83/5.00). University average
        is ~4.01.).

Senior Project Officer, Learning and Teaching Academic Standards (LTAS) project

Main responsibilities: Undertook project evaluation and research as required for project deliverables, wrote a range of reports for external stakeholders and government around project outcomes and progress.


Key achievements:

  • Contributed to the successful completion of the LTAS project, on time and within budget.
  • Wrote chapters in the Final Report, following extensive research and project evaluation.
  • Wrote progress reports for body providing project funding (the Australian Government), LTAS Steering Group and ALTC Board.
