In 2001, I was interviewed as part of a Teaching and Learning scoping project at UTS. The project lead had heard that I was working in the student group work space. I was doing my PhD in this area and was running teambuilding sessions in tutorials. A few days later, I was invited to meet the Director of the UTS Teaching and Learning Unit: The Institute for Interactive Media and Learning (IML). I was offered a job. They wanted someone to write a resource kit for them on the topic of student group work. I accepted the offer and set about writing the resource.
In 2012, when I returned to IML, I was amazed to discover how popular the kit had become. There were so many academics following my suggestions and running my exercises. It was a great feeling to have produced something that was helping so many staff and students.
The content of the kit is still used today at UTS. The html version can be reached here.
